Whenever we talk about a website, the very first thought that comes to a webmaster’s mind is, how do I make my website available to mass audience? The simple answer is, get indexed in search engines and rank high for particular keywords related to your website. Talking about search engines, its is needless to say that Google has been, hands down, the greatest search engine in the history of World Wide Web. So the bottom line is that if you want your website to be famous, you need to index website in Google.
There are hundreds of websites out there which are really good but are not properly indexed in Google. Webmasters keep finding the answers to questions like, Where did it go wrong? Why is the website not getting indexed in Google? How do I make the Google index my website quickly?
Today I will be using my experience to answer these questions as elaborately as possible and will guide you on how to get your website indexed in Google as quickly as possible.
First Steps to Getting Your Website Index in Google
The very first mistake that many webmasters out there make is that they setup the robots.txt file incorrectly. You can easily block search engines from crawling your website or particular pages on your website using this file. Most of the times this is the reason that your website is not getting indexed in Google. Just check your robots.txt file and make sure it DOES NOT have the following lines in it.
User-agent: * Disallow: /
Or something like
User-Agent: Googlebot Disallow: /
If it is so and you are not sure why it is there, then you are advised to remove it. Be aware that it will allow Google bot to crawl your website once you remove similar codes from robots.txt file.
Bring visitors to your website to get it indexed in Google
It has been my personal experience that when people visit your website or as a matter of fact, a particular webpage, it gets indexed really quick. I remember one of my posts getting indexed in Google in as less time as a minute. Whereas usually my posts on that particular site used to take about atleast a day or two to be indexed.
Reason for getting indexed?
I had shared that post on facebook with a large group of my friends.
Not only did the post get indexed in less than a minute but it also got to top 5 position in Google then and there itself. Isn’t that amazing? So try bringing visitors to your website (webpage) as soon as you publish an article or post on it. Use social networking sites to share your link or go on messengers and share your link with the online friends, make them visit the link or send out emails to people you feel, who might be interested. The method does not matter, the end result should bring visitors to your website. I can assure you that if you do it, your webpage will definitely get indexed in Google. Keep updating your website on a frequent basis for better indexing
Once you get the gist of bringing visitors to your website, the next part is really easy. Now you just have to keep on updating your website frequently. Make sure that you update your website atleast 3 times a week. If you are using a blogging platform such as WordPress or Blogger then you can choose to schedule posts so that your website gets updated even when you do not work 3 times a week. Google always crawls sites more frequently which are updated more frequently. As simple as that. I remember one of my old blogs hosted on blogger had got its post indexed in google in like 30sec. No, I’m not kidding! It really had got indexed in Google in 30sec or less. In fact the search result in Google had shown ‘A minute ago’ where it usually shows something like ‘5 days ago’ etc.
Reason for getting indexed in Google under a minute?
I used to update that blog more than thrice per day. It was not that alone, I also used to work on getting backlinks to that website and other website related things, but I feel, the main reason for getting indexed so quickly was the amount of posts I used to post on that blog daily. I never used to skip a day! Try it yourself and then come back and drop a comment if it worked or not. I guarantee you that it will work provided you have taken care of above 2 points as well.
